SBM Built Stationary Prefab Concrete Mixing Plant for UHPC
31. July 2013
In a record-breaking construction period, a new, ultra-modern SBM prefab concrete mixing plant for UHPC-concrete was built in Oberwang, Upper Austria, for the company BP-Graspointner – the specialist for drainage systems. All over the world, SBM Mineral Processing is one of the few plant manufacturers possessing corresponding know-how in the field of prefab concrete. UHPC (ultra high performance concrete) is a special type of concrete composed of especially many ingredients which are precisely measured out and weighed by the new plant. The plant came into operation in July 2013.

The tailored special plant had to fulfil specific demands. Helmuth Neubacher, manager of stationary concrete mixing plants at SBM, summarises: “Among these demands were restricted construction conditions due to the given geometry wherein a multitude of components had to be fitted. For example, a plastic fibre weighing and dosing machine with a dosing accuracy of 5 g was included into the overall concept.” Depending on demand, a steel-fibre dosing plant can be added to further increase flexibility. The complete plant is 9.5 m wide, 23 m long and 18 m high. In total it has 7 silos, 3 of them with 4 chambers for wet sands (approx. 66 m3 volumetric capacity each), 4 silos with 5 chambers for cements and dry sands with a volumetric capacity of 50 m3 each. “An essential feature of quality assurance is complying with the narrow tolerances and documenting the mixing process,“ says Neubacher.
