The third longest bridge of Switzerland with a length of 2,100 m in a height of up to 50 m presents a constructional challenge to all participating companies. Here, only the best are employed who have already managed to demonstrate the required know-how at other projects.

Trust Leads to Success
The prestigious construction company Walo Bertschinger, Zurich, that assumes responsibility for the renovation order placed its trust to SBM, one of the few manufacturers of concrete mixing plants with vast experience in the field UHPC. "Due to our successful job handling for foundations of wind energy plants and in the field of prefabricating plants, we have achieved an excellent reputation as being a reliable high-quality manufacturer of UHPC plants. Thus we have managed to convince Walo with our technological expertise", Ing. Gerhard Gschwandtner and Ing. Helmuth Neubacher are thrilled at having received the order.

Mobility and High-tech

By means of perfect logistics the SPECIMIX plant provided a total of some 1,500 m³ UHPC directly from the bridge within 4 weeks. To this purpose aggregates and binder agents could be delivered by tank lorry and be blown into working silos, steel fibre was added by crane. The produced thin layer concrete with an extremely high percentage of steel fibre was applied in an only 50 mm thick base course including reinforcement.

The container-mobile mixing plant consists of three main containers which come ready for operation to the site. With a capacity of 18 m³/hour and a mixing time of 10 minutes per mixture, the plant does not only impress due to its outstanding concrete quality but also due to its high production speed. Being completely insulated, SPECIMIX is suitable for operation in winter and thus fit for use throughout the year.
